Dickens Victorian Christmas Celebration has been a 25 year plus tradition in Northport, Alabama, located just across the river from downtown Tuscaloosa. While game-goers were flooding the streets for the Iron Bowl, merchants were making plans for a magical night.Dozens walked the streets in character for Dickens Christmas.
A live nativity at Northport Baptist Church on 1004 Main Avenue reminded us of the reason for CHRISTmas. They shared bags with the story of the Christmas Candy Cane.Children of all ages had a photo with Father Christmas at Dickens Christmas Celebration in Northport, Alabama.
Snow on a 65 degree day on the streets of Northport as carolers walked the streets can get anyone ready for the holidays, even in the South.
Singer and songwriter, Brent McCollough, performed live music at The Potager on Main which served festive finger foods for shoppers.
Merchants sold hotdogs, funnel cakes (sold out) and hot chocolate in front of the galleries and shops that remained open.
The hit of the night was the free falling snow that showered passers by as they made their way up and down the blocked off streets.
All across our state there are Christmas Tree Lightings and Parades this week.

Tonight (Dec. 4) trees will be lit across the state from Greenville, Grove Hill and Livingston to Athens, Thomasville and Brundige.
This weekend Foley will host Christmas in the Park if you are headed south! Dauphin Island and Andalusia will also be lighting up this weekend.
